Strikeforce 2012

Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine

This Saturday night on Showtime‘s “Free Preview Weekend,” Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold will make his first title defense against “Ultimate Fighter 2″ alumni Keith “Dean of Mean” Jardine.   It’s the company’s first event for 2012 and first event since re-upping their contract with Showtime.  Now, does this main event seem a little odd considering Jardine hasn’t even had a fight at Middleweight for Strikeforce?  Yes.  Even the champion didn’t think Jardine was on the title radar but with wins over Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffen, Rockhold will gladly take the fight.  Also on the card “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler and “King Mo” Lawal.  Check out these previews of Saturday’s event courtesy of SHO Sports and The Fight Network.

Gina Carano in GQ Magazine via Bloody Elbow

Last Friday night’s UFC 141 featured more than just the debut of Alistair Overeem and the end of Brock Lesnar‘s career.  It also featured a rare appearance by “The Face of Women’s MMA” Gina Carano.  Carano was on hand to promote her upcoming film “Haywire” and after a little sexy dancing and getting her rack peeped by Mike Goldberg, she took a little time to speak with MMAFighting.com‘s Ariel Helwani backstage about a variety of topics including her loss to “Cyborg” Santos, her acting career, why she didn’t fight last summer, Olympic Judoka Ronda Rousey and what’s next after the movie premiere.
